About Watch-Africa Film Festival
Watch-Africa Film Festival is Wales’s annual African film festival, launched in 2013 to celebrate the richness and diversity of African cinema. Over the years, the festival has become a vibrant platform that brings together films, artists, and audiences from Africa, its diaspora, Wales, and beyond.
The festival showcases a wide range of films from across the continent — from thought-provoking features to shorts that spark conversation — alongside interactive activities such as Q&As with filmmakers, workshops, and cultural showcases. These events provide fresh perspectives on Africa’s social, political, and cultural life while fostering connections across communities and continents.
Connecting Communities Through the Power of Cinema
The festival is run by a dedicated and diverse team, Together, they bring deep expertise in arts, heritage, governance, and development sectors.
Since 2018, Watch-Africa has also expanded into consultancy services, offering bid writing, application support, diversity training, youth work, cultural and heritage engagement, leadership training, and using art as a tool for development, wellbeing, and social justice.
Today, the festival’s work extends across Wales, the UK, Africa, and Europe, fostering dialogue, creativity, and cross-cultural understanding while celebrating African cinema at its very best.
